Social Responsibilities Systems

The intent of SA8000 is to provide a standard based on international norms of human rights and national labor legislation that protects and encourages all employees to the organization as well as its suppliers and subcontractors.

SA8000 is applicable to all organizations regardless of their size, activity or geographic location who are motivated to ensure that the fundamental rights of workers and to reaffirm its social responsibility in business and the requirements of national legislation related to labor.

Specific moments in the implementation of social accountability management system of responsibility:

  • Extend the range of stakeholders – except customers and employees interested in commitments to social responsibility of the company and external parties – partners, suppliers, subcontractors, visitors, neighbors, local residents, supervisors and the general public.
  • There is a very good framework for its implementation;
  • Extend the range of socially responsible companies by placing requirements on suppliers and subcontractors in terms of social responsibility and compliance with labor legislation;
  • Planning and conducting social audits of suppliers and subcontractors;
  • Require public the results of audits and management reviews in terms of social responsibility;
  • Conducting surprise audits by the certification body;
  • Designation of representatives of workers;
  • Conducting interviews closed between the auditor and employees from different levels;
  • Checking of the financial records which are not subject to review under other management systems – such as slips and payroll, tax deductions, etc.;
  • Survey of employees to determine their needs.

The benefits for the organization of integration of social resposibility in their management systems:

  • Provides a good public image;
  • Increased confidence of customers and business partners and helps to build long term mutually beneficial relationship with them.
  • Establish mechanisms to ensure self-elimination of potential problems that may undermine the credibility of the organization or lead to sanctions by supervisory bodies;
  • Identification of all applicable requirements of the organization relating to social responsibility.
