ISO 31000 RISK MANAGEMENT. GUIDELINES

ISO 31000 provides the principles and general guidelines for risk management. The standard may be used by any public, private or community organization, enterprise, association, group or individual. Therefore, it is not industry or sector specific. It can be applied throughout the life of the organization and can be applied to any activity, including decision-making at all levels, including strategies and decisions, activities, processes, functions, projects, products, services and resources.

This standard can be applied to all types of risk, regardless of their characteristics, and regardless of whether they have a positive or negative effect. Although ISO 31000 provides general guidance, it is not intended to promote uniform risk management across organizations. The development and implementation of risk management plans and organizational frameworks should take into account the specific needs and objectives, specific circumstances, structure, activities, processes, functions, projects, products, services, or assets and the specific practices used.

The standard is intended to be used to coordinate risk management processes in existing and future management systems. It provides a general approach and support for standards addressing specific risks and sectors, but does not replace those standards. ISO 31000 is not intended for certification purposes - it can be integrated in management system with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, etc.
